Born on March 29, 1972 in Riga
Studied at the piano department of JVLMA, obtained a master's degree from professor Teofils Biķis, supplemented his knowledge in jazz music studies at the Dutch Conservatory - He is an assistant professor of piano playing and improvisation at RPIVA, a lecturer at the jazz department of JVLMA. Leading master classes in Oslo, Jurmala, Ventspils, Saulkrasti.
In 1995, won first place at the International Jazz Pianist Competition in Vilnius.
He plays Māris Briežkalns Quintet, with whom he recorded the music albums Latvian Evergreens Vol 1 and Vol 2, and Latgalian Evergreens. Plays in the Latvian Radio big band and the Lauris Amantovs jazz quartet. Performed at Ottawa Jazz, London Jazz, Midem, Sile Jazz, etc.
