Latvian kokle player Laima Jansone was born in Riga in 1987.
Graduated from the bachelor's program in ethnomusicology at the Jāzeps Vītols Academy of Music of Latvia, received additional education at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She combines the sounds of ethnographic and electric woodwinds, giving great importance to improvisation.​​

Laima Jansone started her professional solo career in 2011. Since then, she regularly performs both in Latvia and abroad - in Western and Northern Europe, Japan, Australia.

She has performed together with the State Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, the Latvian Radio Choir, the ethno-jazz trio "Zarbugans" at the largest Baltic jazz festival "Rīgas Ritmi" and at the Cēsu Art Festival. In 2011, she performed on the main stage at the world's largest world music fair, WOMEX. In the same year, in cooperation with the director Olaf Okonov, she released the DVD and CD recording "Sidrabs". In 2014, she was nominated for the Great Music Award 2013 in the "Young Artist of the Year" category.
