Biruta Ozoliņa was born in Latgale, where she inherited certain singing traditions from childhood. Biruta's interest in learning about folklore traditions seems to have already been inherited, as evidenced by the excellent songs found by relatives in the folklore materials of E. Melngailis. Biruta's first recordings were made in the 80s of the last century at Latvijas Radio. Biruta has been recognized by music critics and listeners at folklore festivals in Kaunas, Vilnius, Tallinn, Krakow, etc.
In 2003, he created the ethno jazz group Patina, but already in 2006 she released the group's debut album, Patina. The group has participated in jazz festivals La Roshe sur Yon (France), Koktebel (Ukraine), Riga Ritmi, Saulkrasti Jazz, Suklegos in Kaunas (Lithuania) and Flensburg (Germany).
